We are excited to announce our 2019-20 Concert Series featuring Andrew Sords, Bryan Pezzone, and Nanette Kaplan Solomon. Series Subscriptions are $60 or individual concert tickets are $25 each.

Holiday Concert with Bryan Pezzone

Bryan Pezzone has been performing and recording in the Los Angeles area since 1987. He is known as a versatile performer of classical, contemporary and improvisational styles. He performs with composers and musicians as diverse as Pierre Boulez, John Williams,and John Adams, and has recorded count­less film and television soundtracks. He is the pianist for Free Flight, a crossover classical/jazz quartet, and initiated the "FREEDOM SERIES", concerts merging improv with verbal musings on life. He was principal pianist in the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra ( 1991-1999), and the former chair/founder of the keyboard department at the California Institute of the Arts (1987-2000). He has since been redefining his role as an artist and person in today's complex culture.

Classical Trio with Nanette Kaplan Solomon

Nanette Kaplan Solomon received her early training at the Juilliard School. She earned her B.A. magna cum laude from Yale College, her M.M. from the Yale School of Music, and her D.M.A. from Boston University School for the Arts. As Professor Emerita of Music at Slippery Rock University, she coordinated and instructed the piano program from 1977-2014. She continues to perform at lecture-recitals nationally and internationally as a member of the College Music Society. She has been a soloist with orchestras in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, as well as a featured artist with the Butler, Youngstown and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestras. Among numerous accolades are the French Embassy award from the French Piano Institute, a fellowship to the Berkshire Music Center at Tanglewood, semi-finalist in the University of Maryland International competition, and finalist in "Search for a Star" sponsored by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Marvin Hamlisch. Solomon is a founding member of the Slippery Rock Piano Trio and the Kaplan Duo with her sister, pianist Iris Kaplan Rosenthal.

Solomon will be joined by Janice Coppola, clarinet, and Roy Sonne, violin, to perform Salon to the Shtetl: Works for Violin, Clarinet, and Piano by Stravinsky, Khachaturian and Paul Schoenfield.
